Good Shepherd Parish
The founding Church to the parish was St. Teresa (Port Deposit), which dates back to 1866 with St. Agnes (Rising Sun) in 1891 while St. Patrick’s Chapel (Pilottown) dates back to 1817. Good Shepherd was established in 1949 and serves the four churches in western Cecil County, Maryland. The pastor is Fr. Jay McKee.
The parish has approximately 1,242 registered families and 1,935 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at Good Shepherd is 140 people at two services, at St. Agnes 140 people at two services, and St. Teresa is 45-50 people at one service. The vigil mass at St. Agnes is in Spanish.
Holy Family
Holy Family parish was founded in 1979 to accommodate the growth of St. John the Baptist-Holy Angels and to serve the growing population in Newark, Delaware. The pastor of Holy Family is Monsignor Kelley, and the associate pastor is Fr. Francis Okorie.
The parish has approximately 1,399 registered families and 3,233 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at Holy Family is 580 people at four services.
Immaculate Conception
The parish was founded in 1849 and serves the Catholic community in eastern Cecil County, Maryland: Immaculate Conception is a neighborhood church in Elkton and St. Jude Mission Church in Northeast, Md. The administrator is Fr. Rich Jasper, and his assistant is Fr. Jerry Dunne, OSFS.
The parish has approximately 1,083 families and 2,917 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at Immaculate Conception is 305 people at three services, and at St. Jude the Apostle is 168 people at one service.
Resurrection
The parish of the Resurrection was founded in 1969 with the challenge to enact the reforms of the Second Vatican Council. The parish serves the Catholic community in Pike Creek, Delaware. The pastor of Resurrection is also the pastor of Holy Family parish, which are two separate parishes with the same pastor.
The parish has approximately 612 registered families and 1,641 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at Resurrection is 190 people at two services.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton was founded in 1978, the present church was dedicated in 1998 and serves a diverse Catholic community in Bear, Delaware. The pastor is Fr. Norm Carroll.
The parish has approximately 2,700 families and 8,162 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is 735 people at three services.
St. John the Baptist/Holy Angels
St. John the Baptist/Holy Angels parish dates back to pre-Revolutionary times, and St. John’s was formally consecrated in 1883 and is presently on the National Register of Historic Places. Holy Angels was founded in 1956 and the present church was built in 2004 and designated as a place to house Hispanic Ministry for the diocese. The pastor is Fr. Carlos Ochoa and the associate pastor is Fr. Michael Preston.
The parish has approximately 2818 registered families and 9,590 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at St. John is 152 people at two services; and at Holy Angels 1,600 people at seven services (five of which are in Spanish).
St. Joseph
St. Joseph parish in Middletown, Delaware was founded as a mission of St. Francis Xavier in 1883. In 1908 St. Joseph became the main church of the parish with St. Francis Xavier (Old Bohemia, Md) and St. Rose of Lima (Chesapeake City, Md.) as mission churches. The pastor is Fr. Mark Kelleher, and the associate pastor is Fr. Bruce Anderson.
The parish has approximately 2,986 registered families and 9,752 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at St. Joseph is 1000 people at three services, at St. Rose of Lima is 110 people at two services, and at St. Francis Xavier is 80 people at monthly services.
St. Margaret of Scotland
St. Margaret of Scotland parish began at the Pencader Corporate Commons in May 1999 to meet the needs of the growing community in Glasgow, Delaware. The present Church was built in 2007. The pastor is Fr. Ed Ogden, OSFS.
The parish has approximately 1,780 registered families and 5,591 parishioners. The mass attendance on any given weekend at St. Margaret is 800 people at three services.
St. Thomas More Oratory
Saint Thomas More Oratory is the student parish and home to Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Delaware in Newark. Founded in 1946 by the Diocese of Wilmington as a Newman Center, and formally dedicated as a Catholic Student Center in 1972, the Oratory was decreed as the student parish in 1975. The current Pastor and Chaplain, Fr. Rich Jasper and Fr. James Gephart, and Director of Campus Ministry and Catechesis, Dr. William Hamant, along with four FOCUS Missionaries, seek to introduce people, specifically the students at UD, to Christ and help them grow into fully developed Christian disciples. Currently the Oratory offers three Sunday Masses and attracts approximately 80-120 students and 80-90 registered non-student parishioners.
